Why didn't my email send correctly?

Most email problems show up on the Test tab before anything is sent.

Errors appear on the process's Test tab, in the step details on the History tab (click a red step badge), and on the dashboard (hover over the ! pill). In the messages below, … stands for a name, address or value from your own set-up.

Message or symptomWhat to do
Sender domain must be example.comThe template's Sender isn't on your environment's sender domain. Real emails will come from the default no-reply address instead. Change the Sender to an address on the domain shown.
Emails arrive from a no-reply addressSame cause as above.
Unresolved parameter in Sender, …Recipient, …Recipient CC, …Subject or …BodyA token in that field has no matching value. Check the spelling and capitals against the record's Inputs.
An email arrived with $$Something$$ in itThe token didn't match a value. In real runs the email is still sent. Fix the token and test again.
The body is all on one lineLine breaks typed in Body Text aren't converted. Use HTML such as
…
or
.
A Send Email step fails in History with another errorThe email service rejected the send, often because the recipient address isn't valid for that record. Check the record's email field. If it keeps happening, contact Three 17 support with the error.
