Test a process before it goes live

The Test tab on a process page fetches real records from the process's dataset, checks them against the rules, and shows which steps each record would reach. No emails, messages or API calls are made, so it's safe to run at any time.

Before you start

Make sure the process and everything it uses are saved and published. The test does read from your data source, just like a real run.

Steps

  1. Open the Test tab

Open the process page in AutomatedOn and click the Test tab.

  2. Fill in any parameters

If the process needs parameter values, a box is shown for each one, filled in with the process's default. Change them if you want to test with different values. Empty boxes are treated as missing.

  3. Choose how many records

Use Records to choose how many records to fetch: 10, 25 (the default), 50, 100, 250 or 500. Start small; larger tests take longer, especially if your rules look up extra data for each record.

  4. Click Run test

Click Run test. The fetched records appear straight away, then each row updates as it's processed. The counter shows progress, for example 12 of 25 records processed.

To stop early, click Stop. Rows that weren't reached are marked Not processed.

  5. Review the results

Check the Steps column to see where each record went, and the Issues column for anything that would go wrong. Click a step badge to preview exactly what would be sent. See Understand Test tab results.

What happens next

When finished, the counter shows a summary such as 25 records processed (2 with errors) in 3.4s. Test runs aren't recorded in History and don't count as processed records.
