Check your rules with suggested test cases

Your real data might not include every situation your rules cover. The Suggested Tests tab builds example field values straight from your rules, checks them, and shows which steps they'd reach. It doesn't query your data source.

Steps

  1. Open the tab

On the process page, click Suggested Tests.

  2. Generate the cases

Click Generate suggested test cases. For each rule you get two cases, Matches rule: … and Does not match rule: …, plus one No rule matches case.

  3. Read each row

    • Target outcome: the step meant to handle the case, or (no matching step configured) if no step acts on it.
    • Suggested field values: the made-up values. (no value) means the field is empty.
    • Notes: anything to be aware of about how the values were chosen.
    • Simulated result: Verified or Not as expected, followed by the steps the case reached, or No steps hit.
  4. Follow up anything not as expected

Not as expected means AutomatedOn couldn't find values that behave as the case intends. Check that rule's conditions and the row's notes; for example, two conditions on the same field may contradict each other.

What happens next

Use the cases as a checklist for test data, then confirm with real records on the Test tab. If the process has no rules, you'll see No rules are configured on this process, so there are no test cases to suggest.
