Trace everything that happened to one record

When someone asks "did this learner get their reminder?", search records by the record's key across every process and run.

Before you start

You need an API key and the record's key. A record's key is the value of its first field in the dataset, so put an ID first in the dataset's Select list if you want to search by it.

Steps

  1. Search by record key

    recordKey is an exact match. If you only know part of it, use search instead, which also matches error messages.

  2. Narrow it down

    Add processId to see one process only, or status=Failed to see only the times it failed.

  3. See what was done

    Add include=steps, or get a single record with GET /records/{recordId}, to see each step and action. An action with executed and success both true was done, for example the email was sent.

What happens next

Nothing found? Steps whose condition didn't match aren't recorded, and old history is cleared after a while. See How long run history is kept.
