Understand your tenant and its folders in the back office
Everything that makes up your automations lives in your tenant, which is the top item in the Content tree of the back office. Each kind of item has its own folder, and the back office only lets you create an item in the right place.
Before you start
You need a back-office account. Sign in at /umbraco, or select Sign in to Backoffice on the AutomatedOn sign-in page.
What goes where
| Folder or item under your tenant | What you create inside it |
|---|---|
| Data Sources | Data Source (OData) and Rest Data Source items, plus sub-folders. Datasets are created underneath the data source they query: a Dataset under a Data Source, a REST Dataset under a Rest Data Source. |
| API Auth Profile | Created directly under your tenant, not inside a folder. Data sources and API requests pick one of these. |
| Rules | Rule items, plus nested Rules folders to group them. |
| Rule Types | Rule Type items, the outcome labels rules use. |
| Processes | Process items, plus sub-folders. |
| Email Templates | Email Template items, plus sub-folders. |
| Message Templates | Message Template items for SMS and WhatsApp, plus sub-folders. |
| API Requests | API Request items, plus sub-folders. |
| Twilio Settings | Settings that point message templates at a Twilio account. |
| Help | Help Article items, which appear in the AutomatedOn sidebar. |
Your tenant item also has a Logo field.
The Content section dashboards
When you open the Content section without selecting an item, you'll see dashboard tabs. The Support tab opens the AutomatedOn support site inside the back office, and Latest Activity shows recent changes.
Tips
- Folders that hold lists, such as Data Sources or Processes, show their contents as a table with Updated On and Updated By columns.
- Save and publish an item when you've finished. The AutomatedOn site only shows published items in its sidebar and pages.
- Secrets such as API keys never go into any field. See the Connections guides for how credentials are added.
